How to Decorate Your Sunday School Room for Preschool-Age Kids
A Sunday school classroom should be a warm and inviting place where students want to spend time learning. Most Sunday schools have limited budgets, which can make decorating your classroom a challenge. However, there are many low-cost options, and parents may be willing to donate certain items. Special considerations should be made when decorating, depending on the age of your students. For a preschool-age Sunday school room, make sure that all of your decorations are safely secured, thumbtacks cannot be reached by little hands, and all outlets are covered.

1
Make a bulletin board for your classroom. Use construction paper for the background, with a contrasting-color paper cut into strips for a boarder. This can provide a central area for your classroom, as well as a place to display artwork, announcements or themes.
-
2
Allow your students to help with the decoration whenever possible. One easy way to do this is to list a few child-friendly Bible verses and have the children vote on their favorite. Then, paint the verse onto a clean sheet to create a pretty "tapestry" for the room.

Enlist the help of artistic parents and create a wall mural. If you cannot paint directly on the wall, this can also be done on a large, white sheet. Paint a colorful, fun and educational mural depicting different Bible stories.

4
Display children's artwork prominently throughout the classroom. Parents will love to see their children's work, and children will take pride in having their artwork on display.

5
Contact your local carpet store and ask if they would be willing to donate carpet squares to your Sunday school class. These squares can be fit together to make a circle area, or each child can be given one to sit on for class discussions.

Tips & Warnings
When you are finished decorating, crouch down to a child's level and survey the classroom. Seeing the room from this level will better alert you to potential dangers as well as show you how attractive and accessible the decorations will be to your students.
Avoid toys or decorations with small parts that could pose a choking hazard.
Cover all electrical outlets appropriately.
