How to Manually Remove XP Defender

Windows Defender program is a protection tool implemented in every Windows XP operation system that protects your computer against malware, spyware and viruses transferred online and from local shared computers. Although it is recommended that you keep Defender activated, for whatever reason should you decide to remove Defender you can uninstall it manually using the regular "Add/Remove Program" option in Windows XP.

      Click on the "Start" icon located in the bottom-left corner of your desktop window.

      Scroll up to and select the "Control Panel" option. Double-click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon in the Control Panel pop-up window that appears.

      Search the list for the Windows Defender program. Click on the "Uninstall" button above the programs list. This will prompt a message confirming whether or not you would like to continue with the uninstallation process.

      Wait for the uninstallation process to complete. A message will appear stating that Windows Defender as successfully been uninstalled.

      Restart your computer for the changes to take place.
