When you buy a large parcel of land, you are typically charged a certain amount of money per acre. If you've been looking for a piece of property and have come across a few different "cost per acre" charges, you can find the average cost using a specific mathematical technique. This involves adding up all the numbers you have and dividing by the total number of values present.

Step 1

Add together the total "cost per acre" dollar amounts you have located. For example, if you looked at three different pieces of property with one costing $500 per acre, another costing $600 per acre and another costing $1,000 per acre, $500 + $600 + $1,000 would equal $2,100.
