How to Twirl a Cane
Cane twirling is a common component in tap dancing, certain martial arts routines where the cane is used as a weapon and other hobbies. While some cane-twirling routines require significant practice and expertise, you can accomplish a basic twirling motion with a minimum of fuss.

1
Stand in the center of a large room that has enough space so you can twirl a cane without hitting anything.
-
2
Hold the cane out full-length from your body to verify you won't hit any people, walls or objects in the area. The more space you have around you, the better.
-
-
3
Place the cane in between your pointer finger and thumb, forming a circle between the two with the cane extending outward through the top of your grip.
-
4
Rotate your wrist in a steady circle while keeping your finger and thumb open enough to allow the cane to move freely within the finger and thumb opening.
-
5
Speed up your wrist rotation to allow centrifugal force to send the cane around in a steady twirl.
