How to Change a Toner Cartridge on a Lexmark T644 Printer
The Lexmark T644 is an expandable laser printer that is ideal for a home office or small work groups. The T644 can be used by a single computer or set up for operation on a network. If the printer has multiple users, you probably will need to change the toner cartridge more frequently. Fortunately, changing the toner cartridge is fast and easy.

Turn off the printer. Disconnect the printer's electrical cord from the wall outlet or power strip. Remove all finished printing from the output bin.

Push the outer release latch located on the left front of the printer. This will lower the paper feeder.

Push the release latch located on the inside above the paper feeder. Open the front cover by lifting the cover upward and toward the back of the printer.

Lift the toner cartridge upward and outward simultaneously, using the handle located in the middle of the cartridge. Set the used toner cartridge aside. Clean the cartridge area by wiping toward the front of the printer using a clean lint-free cloth.

Open the new cartridge's package and carefully remove the new cartridge. Pull the red plastic and foam off of the new cartridge. Place the used cartridge in the package and set it aside for recycling.

Grasp the new cartridge by the handle. Shake the new cartridge gently from side to side to evenly distribute the toner inside the cartridge. Align the tabs on each side of the cartridge with the slots on each side of the print-cartridge holder in the printer.

Insert the new print cartridge into the printer until it snaps. Close the top front door of the printer. Close the paper feeder door.

Plug the printer power cord into the wall outlet or into the power strip. Turn on the power on the front of the printer.

Tips & Warnings
Order replacement cartridges when the T644 displays the message "Toner Low."
Store toner cartridges in a dry place out of direct sunlight.
You can wear rubber gloves to protect your hands from printer toner during removal, cleaning and installation of new cartridges.
Recycle the old print cartridge by returning it to Lexmark..
Never touch the rollers inside the printer.
Allow the printer to cool before cleaning the inside of the printer.
Never touch the drum on the bottom of the toner cartridge.
