Cyanoacrylate adhesives glue many surfaces quickly.

Naugahyde is a type of fake leather that is often used to create the appearance of leather in seating, tabletops and other applications. The fabric is made of a vinyl polymer that has been coated with a film of plastic. This makes the fabric durable and easy to clean. Gluing Naugahyde to wood or other materials can be done using the correct glue for the Naugahyde.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the surfaces where the glue will be applied. If you are regluing Naugahyde to a wood surface, use a cyanoacrylate debonding cleanser and cotton swabs to dissolve any old glue residue.

    • 2

Pre-fit the Naugahyde to the area to make sure it is the correct shape and size.

    • 3

Select a cyanoacrylate adhesive. These glues are commonly found in craft and hobby stores and they come in three viscosities: thin, medium and gel. Use a thin viscosity if you are gluing in a small area. Use thicker viscosities for larger areas and better control of the glue. This glue will bond your fingers together if you are not careful, so keep the debonding cleanser handy.

    • 4

Apply the glue by squirting the glue through the applicator tip on the bottle or by using a popsicle stick for the gel. Some variations of this glue require an activation spray, so read the glue directions carefully and follow the details described by the manufacturer for best results.

    • 5

Press the Naugahyde to the wood and smooth out the fabric. Hold the fabric in place for one or two minutes until you are certain the glue has attached the items together securely. Use the debonding cleanser to clean any excess glue from the surface.
