Instructions

1
Measure and cut fabric 1 inch longer than needed to fit in front of the door or window and (for a 2-inch thick door or window) 23 inches wide.
-
2
Fold fabric in half along its entire length so that it is inside out. Sew along the open edge.
-
-
3
Turn the fabric right side out and iron it so that the new seam is 1 inch from the middle of the fabric.
-
4
Sew the fabric along the side of the seam making the first draft guard pouch. Measure 2 inches from that line toward the center of the fabric and sew straight down the length again. Use a stitch that can withstand the pressure of your sand filling.
-
5
Close one side of each pouch by tucking the edges in and sewing them shut. Fill each pouch with sand and close the other end the same way.
-
6
Slide under the door or place in the window frame.

Tips & Warnings
Match your fabric with your decor so that the guards don't stand out.
Be sure that the door guard is not too long for the door; otherwise, the door won't open and close.
Don't stuff your draft guard with anything that should not get wet, like cat litter, beans or seeds.
