How to Make Your Nails Square
Square nails compliment all hands. If you have long thin fingers, shaping your nails square can prevent them from looking longer. You can shape your nails into a square with artificial, natural, long or short nails. No matter what type of nails you have, shaping them is simple to do yourself or it can be done by a professional. Things You'll Need
- Cotton balls
- Nail polish remover
- Small bowl with warm water
- Towel
- Nail clipper
- Nail file

Remove any paint from your nails with a cotton ball and nail polish remover, if necessary. Even if you do not have paint on your nails, you can still do this step to remove any debris on your nails.

Fill a small bowl with warm water. Place your nails into the bowl for a few minutes to soften the nails.

Dry your nails with a lint-free towel. Make sure your hands are completely dry before you begin the next step.

With a nail clipper, clip the top of the nail in a straight line to the length you want your nail. It should be one straight cut and not multiple cuts.

With your nail file, file in one direction, from the skin to the top of the nail.

File the top of your nail in one direction to form a straight line across it. Only a few strokes of the file are needed to complete this.

File the edges of your nails to form a curve. File in one direction from the edge of the nail to the center of your nail.

Wash your hands to get rid of the nail shavings.

Tips & Warnings
If you have natural nails, you must keep up with the shape every few days to prevent your nails from losing shape.
Moisturize your nails at least three times a day to prevent dry, unhealthy nails.
Always file in one direction to prevent jagged edges and from damaging your nails.
