How to Send Attachments With Skype

Save

Skype is a computer program that allows the user to call another computer for free anywhere in the world. For a fee, you can use Skype to call a landline or cell phone. You can also use Skype to send file attachments that are not larger than 2 gigabytes to another Skype user. The file transfer time depends on the strength of your Internet connection and the size of the file.

  • Sign in to your Skype account.

  • Double-click on the Skype user to whom you'd like to transfer a file, like you would do if you wanted to type a message to the user. The user must be online and signed into his account to accept a file transfer.

  • Click on the "More" icon located at the top of the message screen. This icon is gray, has a black, star-like shape inside, and is located next to the "Share" icon.

  • Select "Send File" from the icon's drop-down menu.

  • Select the file that you want to transfer. A window will pop up that will allow you to browse for the file. Skype will send a message to the file receiver asking if he accepts the file transfer. After the acceptance, the file will begin transferring. You can see the progress of the file transfer in the messaging screen, and it will notify you of how long the file transfer will take.
