How to Change a Last Name After Marriage in Miami, Florida
Brides in Miami, FL who choose to change their last names after marriage must begin the process by notifying the Social Security Administration (SSA). Once your marriage certificate arrives in the mail, you may begin the name change process. Your marriage certificate does not automatically change your name for you; it provides legal proof that you are permitted to change your name. Until you notify the SSA, your name does not change. The name shown on your Social Security card remains as your legal name in the United States.
