How to Distress the Edges on a Scrapbook
Distressed edges add a weathered and aged look to paper. A paper distressing technique can be used to make stationery and documents look antique. It can also be used to distress scrapbook pages and make the scrapbooks look as if they have been added to through several years, even if they are brand new. Distress the edges of your scrapbook to create an antique styled scrapbook to hold your memories.

1
Wet a cosmetic sponge or cotton ball slightly with a few drops of water.
-
2
Press the moist end of the sponge or cotton ball into an ink pad. Use brown, yellow or rust-colored ink to make the distressed look seem more natural.

-
3
Press the sponge or cotton ball onto the edges of the scrapbook pages individually or just to the exposed edges of a closed book, all the way around. The water that was used to moisten the sponge or cotton ball will make the ink more fluid, allowing it to soak the edges of the paper in a realistic aging look.
-
4
Dry the paper with a blow dryer on medium heat. This will create a weathered texture around the edges and will dry the ink and water.
