How to Release an IP Address in Windows Vista
An IP address acts as an identification number for your computer when you are connected to the Internet. Some service providers give users dynamic IP addresses that change periodically. If you release your current IP address, you may receive a new IP address when you renew your address. If you want to attempt to change your IP address or if you have problems connecting to the Internet, you can release and renew your IP address.
