How to Track My Twitter Progress

Twitter is a popular social networking application that allows you to post short messages, including photos and Website links. How you define your progress on Twitter depends on what you hope to achieve when using it. Several online utilities allow you to find your ranking on Twitter based on who follows you, who retweets you, how often you use Twitter, how often others interact with you and other factors. To track your progress using these tools, you should make a note of your current scores, then check your score again over the course of several weeks or months.

Instructions

  1. Track Twitter Influence

    • 1

Open a Web browser and go to Twitter Grader. Enter your Twitter username and click "Grade." Twitter Grader will give you a score of your influence. The score is from 1 to 100, based on your number of followers, their influence, how many people you follow and your total number of tweets.

    • 2

Click on the "view user history" link, located at the bottom of the "Account Summary" section to see a chart showing your number of followers on one line and the number of people you follow on another.

    • 3

Read the Tips and Suggestions to see if Twitter Grader has detected any areas of concern for your account that could be improved.

    • 4

Compare your progress with another Twitter account by entering the username in the field beside your username. Click "Compare." The chart will show the followers and following numbers for both accounts over the past year.

    • 5

Click the "Reset" button to clear the comparison of the two accounts. Then enter another username to show a new comparison.

    Track Klout

    • 6

Open a web browser window and go to Klout. Enter your username and click the "View" button. Klout will measure your overall influence on Twitter based on 35 variables.

    • 7

Scroll down to the "Influence Matrix" to see your Klout classification, who you influence and who influences you on Twitter. The 16 categories are based on your consistency of tweets, consistency in topics, your participation with others and other criteria.

    • 8

Scroll down the page to see a sample of who you influence and who influences you.

    • 9

Click on any of your influencers or those you influence to see their Klout score.

    • 10

Click the Score Analysis tab to see a detailed analysis of your score. You will have to create a free account to access this information. Click the "sign up" link then sign in with your Twitter username and password.

    Track ReTweet Rank

    • 11

Go to the Retweet Rank website. Enter your Twitter username and click the "Find retweet rank" button.

    • 12

Wait for the website to calculate your rank. Retweet Rank will calculate your influence on Twitter based on the number of retweets you get from others. Your rank is literally your place in line of all of the people using Twitter. A lower number is more influential than a higher number.

    • 13

Scroll down the page to see who has retweeted your posts recently on Twitter.

    • 14

Type the username of someone else in the field at the top of the page. Then click the "Find retweet rank" button to see the score.
