How to Turn Off Trade Chat Bubbles in "WoW?"

Trade chat in "World of Warcraft" usually refers to either the trade channel itself, or the act of trading items through chat. Chat bubbles are bubbles that appear above a player's head when that player says something in "/say" chat or "/yell" chat. Trade chat can become annoying, with players constantly spamming the items they wish to sell. Fortunately, chat bubbles do not apply to the trade channel. Trade chat often spills over from the trade channel and into "/say" and "/yell" chat. You can disable chat bubbles and the trade channel itself, so you never have to see trade chat again.

Turn Off Trade Channel

  • Log in to "World of Warcraft." Press "Enter" on your keyboard.

  • Type "/leave trade" without the quotation marks.

  • Press "Enter" on your keyboard. The chat frame should confirm your action with a message that reads "Left Channel."

Turning Off Chat Bubbles

  • Enter the game with your "World of Warcraft" character. Press "Esc," then click "Interface."

  • Click the "General" tab, followed by the yellow "Social" option in the list of "General" options.

  • Click the checkbox next to "Chat bubbles." The checkmark should disappear. Click "Okay."
