How to Repair the Document Feeder on a Brother Fax 2800

The document feeder on the Brother Fax 2800 feeds original documents through the top of the machine, where the Fax 2800 scans the documents in preparation to either send as a fax transmission or to reproduce copies of the document. Problems with the document feeder are caused by either the cover not sitting firmly in place, the scanning glass accumulating paper dust or other debris or a jammed document keeping the scanner from working. You do not need extensive technical expertise to fix any of these problems with the Brother Fax 2800.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the power cord and telephone line out of the back of the Fax 2800. Lift up on the front edge of the machine's control panel, revealing the document feeder's roller.

    • 2

Pull out any stuck paper inside the document feeder, including small shreds of paper, being careful to not tear the paper. Never pull the paper toward the back of the machine.

    • 3

Wet a microfiber cloth slightly, then wipe down the document feeder roller. Wet another microfiber cloth with rubbing alcohol and use it to clean off the glass strip and while strip inside the document feeder.

    • 4

Allow the document feeder and its roller to dry completely, then close the control panel so it clicks firmly in place.
