How to Upload a Folder to the Bluehost Server

Save

The primary way to upload site content to web hosting provider Bluehost is through File Transfer Protocol (FTP.) Once uploaded to your assigned server, you can then access the contents anywhere on the site. If you need to upload a folder to the site containing files such as music, documents, websites or programming files, you can use the built-in FTP client Windows provides to access your Bluehost server.

  • Open Internet Explorer and type "ftp://ftp.[domain.com]," where [domain.com] is your website's domain name.

  • Click "Page" on Internet Explorer and click "Open FTP site in Windows Explorer" to open a browser for the Bluehost server.

  • Press the "Alt" button on your keyboard, then click "File" and "Log In."

  • Enter your Bluehost username and password at the prompt and click "Log On."

  • Click and drag the folder you want to upload to Bluehost into the Windows Explorer window.
