The capacity of modern hard drives is astounding compared to technology available a decade ago. The nature of how computers create and store files has changed not only with increased storage capacity but also with the advent of broadband Internet. Temporary directories are most commonly used by Internet browsers but are also created by InstallShields as well as by users. Due to the temporary nature of these directories they can be hard to find. Windows accommodates them with built-in search features.

      Press "Windows Key + D" on your keyboard to set your desktop as the click-able area by minimizing all programs and applications.

      Press "F3" on your keyboard to open the search window.

      Type in the name of the directory in the appropriate search box.

      Modify the search location to your local hard disk usually designed as "C:\."

    • 5

      Press "Enter" on your keyboard or click "Search." Allow up to several minutes for the search to populate results.
