How to Fold an 8 1/2-by-11-inch Piece of Paper Into an Envelope
An 8 1/2-by-11-inch piece of paper is a standard sized full sheet of paper. Letters, forms and documents generally are printed on this size of paper. Folding an 8 1/2-by-11-inch piece of paper into an envelope is a simple task that takes very little effort.

Standard Envelope

Place the full sheet of paper on a flat surface face up in a vertical position with the bottom of the page facing you.

Fold the bottom third of the paper up to the middle of the remaining portion of the page and press firmly to make a crease.

Take the creased side of the paper and fold it up to the top edge of the sheet.

Insert the folded piece of paper into the envelope.
Window Envelope

Place a sheet of paper face down on a flat surface, with the top toward you.

Fold the upper third of the paper down and the lower third up so the address is on the outside.

Put the folded paper in the envelope with the address showing through the window display. Check to be sure the zip code is visible through the window.
