How to Undo a Jailbreak on Your iPhone

The default operating system on an iPhone is designed by Apple to restrict the user from making enhanced configurations to the device. Allowing the user access to third-party applications and other advanced configuration options, jailbreaking an iPhone bypasses Apple's restrictions and allows the user full access to their iPhone's root file system. In order to undo a jailbreak on an iPhone, you must restore Apple's iOS through iTunes.

  • Connect your iPhone to your computer using its USB connector cable and start iTunes if the application does not automatically start.

  • Click the "iPhone" icon displayed in the left sidebar.

  • Click "Restore" in the "Summary" tab.

  • Click "Yes" in the dialog box to confirm you want to back up your iPhone before restoring iOS.

  • Click "Yes" in the dialog box to restore your iPhone to the backup you made before jailbreaking your iPhone. ITunes restores your iPhone to Apple's iOS.
