How to Reset Your Cogeco Cable Modem

If you live in Canada you might get high-speed Internet service from the Cogeco cable TV company. You connect your computer to the Cogeco cable modem with an Ethernet cable, and you plug the Cogeco TV cable into the Cogeco cable modem. The modem gets power from a power cable that you plug into a wall outlet. If your computer is having a problem connecting to the Internet, you can try resetting your Cogeco cable modem to see if this solves the problem.

  • Press the "Reset" switch on the back panel of your Cogeco cable modem and then release it if you want to perform a basic reset. The cable modem will go into initialization mode. Its lights will flash as it connects to the Internet cable service and configures itself, after which the lights will stop flashing. At this point, if you still do not have Internet service, you can try doing a factory default reset.

  • Disconnect the Cogeco cable modem's power cable from the outlet if you want to do a factory default reset.

  • Press the "Reset" switch and hold it while plugging the power cable back into the AC outlet. Continue to hold the "Reset" switch for about six seconds, until all the lights on the modem come on. This resets the modem to factory default settings.
