How to Make an Antennae Headband
Lady bugs, butterflies and bumble bees all have antennae to help them in a sensory capacity. Make your own antennae headband to wear as part of an insect-inspired Halloween costume or to include in a homemade dress up bin for your children.
Things You'll Need
- 2 pipe cleaners
- Felt
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Plain plastic headband
- Large craft pom poms
Instructions

1
Measure the length of the pipe cleaners.
-
2
Measure and cut two pieces of felt 2 inches wide and as long as the pipe cleaner.
-
-
3
Run a line of hot glue along one of the long edges of one of the pieces of felt. Place one of the pipe cleaners in the line of hot glue. Roll the pipe cleaner up in the felt and glue the other long edge to hold the rolled up felt. Repeat with the other pipe cleaner and piece of felt.

4
Attach a large craft pom pom to the end of each antennae with hot glue.
-
5
Attach the non-pom pom end of the two antennae to the top of the head band using hot glue. Attach the antennae so each one is an inch out from the center of the headband. Curl the ends of the antennae.
