How to Clear the Failed Updates in Windows Update Center for Vista
When Windows performs an update attempt on a Vista system, it records a log of the event's status as well as its outcome. Sometimes updates fail to apply, and if many of them fail at the same time it can leave dozens if not hundreds of failed update notices in your Windows Update history. Although Windows Vista does not have a specific feature for clearing only failed updates, you can clear the Windows Update history to remove all update notices. This will not uninstall your updates, but it will clear the history of all events.
