How to Merge the Address and Search Bars in Firefox
The Firefox toolbar features a dedicated search box that can be used to access popular search engines and websites such as Google, Yahoo!, Amazon and eBay. With the help of Firefox extensions, you can merge the search box into the address bar for simplified access to websites, browsing history and search engines all within the same toolbar input box.

Launch Firefox and navigate to the Omnibar installation page (addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/omnibar/).

Click "Add to Firefox," then "Install." Restart Firefox to activate the add-on.

Click the "Firefox" button, then "Add-ons."

Select "Omnibar," then click "Preferences."

Click the check box beside "Enable search for queries without search keyword or operator."

Click the check box beside "Show search engine in urlbar," configure the display of the search engine according to your preferences, then click "Close."

Search from the address bar by entering your query, then pressing "Enter." You can change the search engine by clicking the active search engine and selecting from the list of installed engines.
