How to Clean the Leaves of a Philodendron
The philodendron is a common houseplant with dark green, vining foliage. Household dust easily builds up on the plant's leaves, just as it does on any household surface. Dust on the leaves is not only unattractive, it also reduces the amount of light the plant can access, which can lead to poor growth. Cleaning the leaves regularly removes this dust and keeps your philodendron healthier and more attractive. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Fill a clean cup with warm water. Dab a corner of a clean cloth in the cup to moisten it.
-
2
Wipe the moistened cloth gently over the top of the philodendron leaves, holding each leaf carefully from the bottom to avoid breaking it off the stem. When the cloth darkens with dirt, rinse it in water from the cup or beneath a faucet.

3
Wipe the undersides of all of the leaves. While doing this, inspect the undersides for signs of mealy bugs, which will appear as cottony blobs, or any other insects. Wipe insects and all traces of them off the plant leaves, if discovered.

Tips & Warnings
Repeat the cleaning every two months, at least. If the plants are in a very dusty area, they may require more frequent cleaning. When you touch the plant leaf surface and dust comes off on your fingertip, use that as a sure indication it is time to clean the leaves.
