Tasty sauce.

If you have leftover sauce, such as tomato or Alfredo, save time and money by freezing the extra sauce for a future meal. You can also make a large batch of homemade sauce and freeze it in small portions for convenience; simply thaw one portion at a time as you need it. Store the sauce properly to ensure the best taste and quality, and to avoid the risk of freezer burn. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

      Cool hot sauce quickly by placing the pan in a sink filled with ice water or by chilling it in a refrigerator; be sure the sauce is cool before packaging it for storage.

      Pour the cooled sauce into one or more plastic sealable freezer storage bags, depending on how much product you have. Leave a 1/2-inch space at the top of each bag, as the liquid may expand as it freezes. Press excess air out of the bags to reduce the chances of freezer burn. Zip the tops of the bags securely closed.

      Write the storage dates on pieces of freezer tape and press the labels onto the bags for reference.

      Place the bags flat into the freezer until the sauce freezes solid. Store the bags of frozen sauce standing up to conserve freezer space. Keep tomato sauce in a freezer set at 0 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 to 18 months and Alfredo sauce for 4 to 6 months.
