How to Disable Open Office on Start Up

Open Office is an open source application suite of productivity-related programs. In essence, it is the equivalent of Microsoft Office, providing word processing, database management, financial planning and presentation features for free. Once installed, Open Office is set to automatically launch with the operating system. For performance reasons, however, you can disable this feature from its main settings screen.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch any of the available Open Office applications, such as Writer, Impress or Base.

    • 2

Click the "Tools" menu, followed by "Options."

    • 3

Expand the "OpenOffice.org" drop-down section, then click the "Memory" menu.

    • 4

Deselect "Load OpenOffice.org During System Start-up" from the "OpenOffice.org Quickstarter" field.

    • 5

Click "OK" to save the new Open Office startup settings.
