Duck cakes are popular cakes for baby showers and kids birthday parties. Making a 3D duck cake can seem like a daunting task but it is relatively easy thanks to the 3D duck baking pan that is available for purchase at Walmart, Michaels or online stores such as ThePartyWorks. Once you have this pan baking the cake is easy. All you need is your favorite cake mix, colored icing and maybe a few plastic ducks to decorate the table with. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 3D duck pan
  • Cake mix
  • Yellow icing
  • Orange icing
  • White icing
  • 2 blue M&Ms
  • Blue wrapping paper
  • Tape
  • Small plastic ducks

Instructions

      Bake your favorite cake mix in the 3D rubber duck pan. Follow the direction on the cake pan box exactly. Let cool.

      Place the cake on a tray and ice your duck using yellow icing. Smooth orange icing onto the beak portion of the cake and use white for the eyes. Place 2 blue M&Ms in the center of each eye.

      Cover your serving tray in blue wrapping paper or cellophane to represent water. Tape the paper to the underside of the tray.

      Move the cake over to your serving tray. Carefully place it in the center. Place small plastic ducks around the cake to act like baby ducks.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also bake chocolate cupcakes and ice them with blue icing and then place these around the 3D duck cake to further represent water.
