How to Reset the Time on a Computer

While some computers are equipped with clocks that are able to detect changes in position and time zone and adjust themselves accordingly, most computers require the user to go in and manually change the clock to keep up with new time zones or time changes. Fortunately, this does not require an arcane series of computer commands, and can be accomplished right from the desktop of the Microsoft Windows operating system.

Instructions

    • 1

Move your mouse cursor down to the lower-right corner of your computer screen and double-click the clock in the Windows taskbar. This will open a new dialog box on your screen.

    • 2

Click the "hour" number in the time box, then use the arrows immediately to the right of the box to adjust the hour mark up or down.

    • 3

Repeat the previous step for both the minute and second boxes, then select the "AM/PM" box and adjust it with the arrows.

    • 4

Click the "OK" button to save your changes and exit.
