How to Make Tabi Japanese Socks
Tabi are traditional Japanese socks that are ankle-high and have a separation between the big toe and its neighbor. These were made to be worn by men and women with zori, geta, and other traditional thonged footwear. Now days these are great to make for cosplays, ninja fans, fans of Japanese culture and history or just a great rainy day project. you can make Tabi with any colored socks and they can make great gifts.

Take one of your socks, turn it inside out and place it on your foot.

Separate your big toe from the one next to it.

Use your pencil to to mark where the toes come together and the inside edge of each toe at the front of the sock. You should have 3 points that create a V shape.

Sew from the top left dot down to the middle and the up to the dot on the right. Make sure to sew right up to the end of your sock or you will have a hole. Be careful not to poke your foot or toes with the needle. You can also take the sock off and sew at this point.

Tie a knot at the end of your stitch and cut the thread with your scissors.

Take off the sock. Take your scissors and cut between the V shape you sewed being careful not to cut the your new stitching.

Turn the sock right side out and try it on to make sure it fits.
