How to Boot a Mac Mini From a CD

Save

The Mac Mini is Apple's lowest priced computer offering. All Mac Mini computers have a built-in disc drive that can read CDs and DVDs. Depending on the model, most Mac Mini computers feature a SuperDrive, which can write to CDs and DVDs as well. You can boot a Mac Mini from a CD when the Mac OS X operating system on a Mac Mini computer needs to be reinstalled.

  • Insert the CD into the Mac Mini's disc drive.

  • Restart the Mac Mini computer.

  • Press and hold the "C" key immediately after the startup chime.

  • Release the "C" key after the Mac Mini begins to boot from the disc. This typically takes 15 seconds.
