Magnetic Scrapbook Memo Board Instructions

Memo boards made of cork provide a convenient place to store notes, recent bills and other pieces of paper. However, it requires that you push a pin through whatever you are attaching, which leaves a small hole in the paper. Instead, make a decorative scrapbook magnetic memo board to store photos and other paper items that you don't want to push a pin through.

Instructions

    • 1

Sand the underside of the cookie sheet with high-grit sandpaper just enough to roughen the smooth surface. Wipe the resulting dust away.

    • 2

Measure the length and width of the cookie sheet.

    • 3

Measure and cut a piece of scrapbook paper to the dimensions of the underside of the cookie sheet. Cut several pieces of paper to piece together if one sheet of scrapbook paper isn't large enough.

    • 4

Spread a coat of decoupage medium with a foam brush over the sanded underside of the cookie sheet.

    • 5

Place the piece or pieces of paper on the underside of the cookie sheet. Smooth any air bubbles out from under the paper with your hands. Let the decoupage medium dry completely.

    • 6

Spread a layer of decoupage medium over the top of the paper to seal it to the cookie sheet. Let the medium dry completely.

    • 7

Attach chipboard shapes to button magnets with hot glue to create embellished magnets for the memo board.

    • 8

      Measure a yard of ribbon.

    • 9

Drill two holes in the lip of the cookie sheet, one an inch in from each corner along one of the long sides of the sheet. Sand over the top of the holes to remove any jagged edges around the holes.

    • 10

Thread one end of the ribbon through one of the holes from the outside to the inside of the cookie sheet. Knot that end of the ribbon.

    • 11

Thread the other end of the ribbon through the second hole from the outside to the inside of the cookie sheet. Keep pulling the ribbon until only enough ribbon remains on the outside of the cookie sheet for the sheet to hang 4 inches below the center point of the ribbon when it is hung on the wall. Knot the second end of the ribbon tight against the lip of the sheet. Trim the excess ribbon.
