How to Use Audiobook With iPod
Apple's iPod music players have several special features for playing audiobooks. They can skip between chapters, resume reading from the last location each time you open a file, and display your audiobooks separately from your other media files. Your iPod can play audiobooks you've downloaded from online bookstores, such as Audible or the iTunes store, or audiobooks that you've ripped from a CD using your computer. To ensure that your audiobooks play properly on your iPod, it is important to ensure that iTunes recognizes them as audiobooks.

2
Add audiobooks to your iTunes library by downloading them from the iTunes store, importing them from other locations on your computer or ripping them from a CD. To download from the iTunes store, select "iTunes Store" in the left side panel of the iTunes window, and then select "Audiobooks." Browse to the book you want to download, click "Buy," and follow the on-screen instructions to download the book to your library. Select "Import" from the "File" menu and browse to a directory containing a downloaded audiobook to import audiobooks that are already stored on your computer. Insert an audiobook CD into your computer's disc drive and follow the on-screen prompts to rip the audiobooks to your collection.

Click on "Audiobooks" under "Library" in the left side panel. Verify that all the audiobooks that you added are present. If any audiobooks are missing, select "Music" under "Library" and click one of the audiobooks. Select "Get Info" from the "File" menu. Switch to the "Options" tab and select "Audiobook" from the "Media Kind" drop-down box. Check "Remember Playback" and "Skip When Shuffling." Click "OK." Repeat this step for any other files that are in your music library instead of your audiobooks library.

Connect the thin, wide end of your iPod's USB cable to your iPod and connect the other end to an available USB port on your computer. If you have not connected your iPod to your computer before, follow the on-screen instructions to set up your iPod and allow iTunes to manage your music automatically. It will transfer all the music, including your audiobooks, to your iPod. Click the eject icon next to your iPod label in the left side iTunes panel. Disconnect your iPod from your computer.
