How to Erase a CD Drive
Sometimes, the only way to fix something is to erase it and start over. If your CD drive is encountering errors -- such as not being recognized by Windows -- your only recourse may be to completely uninstall the drive from your system and re-install it later. When uninstalling or erasing a CD drive from your computer, you need to uninstall the drivers associated with the drive. This will essentially cause Windows to stop "seeing" the drive, and will allow you to reinstall it, or replace it at your leisure.
