The HTC EVO is a smartphone that runs on the Android 2.1 platform. One of its many features is a press-to-lock battery compartment/back cover that's designed to simply lift from the phone without needing to be unlocked by pressing or sliding a release button or switch. Typically, removing the cover is necessary to replace the EVO's rechargeable Li-ion battery, insert or remove a microSD card, clean the 8-megapixel main camera lens or perform repairs.
Turn off your HTC EVO smartphone.
Hold the phone in one hand with the top pointing up and the back facing you.
Place your thumb or fingernail in the groove at the top of the phone where the back cover connects with the base of the phone. Apply light pressure and pry the cover from the back of the phone.
Tips & Warnings
- If necessary, wedge your fingernail into the connecting seam, working along the top edge of the phone, and pull back as the cover begins to separate from the phone.
