      Wear sunscreen every single day. Doing so is the one of the best ways to get and keep a light complexion. Use a sunscreen that is SPF 30 or higher. Apply sunscreen in the morning, after washing your face. Let it sit on the face for 15 minutes before applying makeup or other products.

      Use an over-the-counter skin-lightening cream. Look for creams that contain ingredients such as mulberry extract and kojic acid. Apply it once or twice per day all over the face. Avoid eyes, mouth and nostrils. Be aware of your own skin sensitivity. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.

      Apply lemon juice to dark areas on the face and body. There is no need to rinse it off the body. If using it on your face, leave it on for 30 minutes and wash off with a washcloth and warm water.
