How to Get Image Categories in iStockphoto

Find images quickly in a photo website by customizing your search.

IStockphoto is an image stock website that carries thousands of media files, including photos, illustrations, videos, audio and Flash files. Finding the exact image you want can take time. Thankfully, iStockphoto has a search tool that helps you narrow down your search quickly. To make things easier, files are also divided into categories, such as business, people and technology. You can conduct a simple or defined search.

Instructions

Search Images by Keyword

1. Go to iStockphoto's website.

2. Click the "Search" drop-down menu in the top banner.

3. Deselect "All Files" and check "Photos" and "Illustrations."

4. Type a keyword into the "Search" text field to find specific images.

5. Click "Search." Your results are displayed.

Customize Image Search

1. Click the "Search" button located in the banner at iStockphoto's website.

2. Check "Photos" and "Illustrations" under "Keywords" in the left navigation panel. To customize your search, type a keyword into the "Keyword(s)" text field.

3. Scroll down to the "Categories" section in the left navigation panel. Pick a category from the "Categories" list or click "More" to find additional categories, and choose one from there. Your matching results are displayed on the right.
