Boil multiple lobsters at once to save time.

Prefrozen lobster is no trouble at all to prepare by boiling. For best results, you should slowly defrost the lobster in the refrigerator overnight before cooking. If you don't have enough time to let it thaw out, you can boil it while it is still frozen, although it may not be as tender and moist. Boiling lobster is a time-conserving method because multiple lobsters can cook at one time. Be careful to watch your lobsters and the clock carefully; when lobsters boil for too long, they get tough. Instructions

    • 1

Place frozen lobsters on a plate and put in the refrigerator overnight to allow it to defrost completely.

    • 2

Find a pot that is large enough to hold your lobsters and fill it halfway with water.

    • 3

Add 2 tbsp. of salt to the pot for each quart of water.

    • 4

Put the heat on high and wait until the water is at a rolling boil.

    • 5

Place lobster in carefully. You can put as many lobsters in the pot as you would like, but there has to be enough water to cover the tops of all lobsters.

    • 6

Place lid on pot and wait until water is boiling again. You will begin timing your cooking time after the water has started boiling.

    • 7

Cook until the entire shell is red. A 1-lb. lobster is going to cook anywhere from about 5 to 7 minutes, a 2-lb. lobster will cook 12 to 14 minutes, a 3-lb. lobster will cook 15 to 18 minutes and a 5-to-6-lb. lobster will cook 18 to 20 minutes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Your lobster is cooked perfectly when you open up the shell and the meat is white in color and not translucent.
