Instructions

  1. Standard Headband

    • 1

Fold your square head scarf or bandanna lengthwise repeatedly until it reaches the thickness you desire.

    • 2

Hold the folded head scarf against your forehead and raise the center to the start of your hairline.

    • 3

Pull the ends of your head scarf around to the rear of your head. Tie the headscarf as you would your shoelaces until it is snug. Use a double knot if you wish to prevent the headband from loosening over time.

    Triangle Headband

    • 4

Fold your bandanna or head scarf in half from point to point to form a triangle shape.

    • 5

Fold the bandanna along the seam and toward the triangle point until it is the thickness you desire. Make sure to leave a bit of the triangle point hanging over the edge of the resulting headband.

    • 6

Place the headband along your hairline with the triangle point facing outward. Pull the loose ends around the back of your head and tie them off as you would your shoelaces. Add a second knot to hold the headband in place permanently.

Tips & Warnings

  • Using bandannas or head scarves with bright colors or patterns can add an element of style to your headband.

  • Long hair can get caught in your headband knot if you do not tilt your head forward and flip your hair away from the band as you tie it.
