How to Find the Tool Bars on Firefox

Mozilla removed some of the toolbars that appeared standard on previous versions of Firefox from Firefox 4. The only toolbar activated by default in Firefox 4, released in March 2011, is the Navigation toolbar. The Menu and the Bookmarks toolbars must be activated manually. And, even after you activate these toolbars, they are still a bit difficult to find in the condensed area at the top of the screen. Once you become familiar with the Web browser's layout, figuring out what toolbars are activated and then what icons go with what toolbar doesn't take too long.

Instructions

  1. Navigation Toolbar

    • 1

Open Firefox. Right-click an open area to the right of the tabs displayed at the top of the screen to open a context menu. If there is not a check mark to the left of Navigation toolbar, click "Navigation toolbar" to place a check mark to the left of it. The Navigation toolbar appears if it is not already there.

Locate the tab to the right of the orange Firefox button in the upper-left corner of the program window. By default, when you open Firefox there will only be one tab that says "Mozilla Firefox Start Page." This start page can be changed later on. You can also click the "+" sign to the right of the tab to open more tabs. This makes it easy to switch between Web pages within the browser window. The Navigation toolbar is located directly beneath these tabs.

Locate the Address field on the Navigation toolbar. This is a white box to the right of the "Go back one page" and "Go forward one page" buttons to the left of the Address field. Enter the Web address of the site you want to visit in this field, then press "Enter" to navigate to that Web page.

    • 8

Click the "House" icon to the right of the Google search field to return to your homepage at any time.
