Instructions

    • 1

Cut four, five-feet long sections of two-by-sixes. You can use the entire two-by-six section for a larger sandbox.

    • 2

Form a square with the four sections. Using three wood screws, attach each end of the sections together firmly. This will make the frame of your sandbox.

    • 3

Apply a generous coat of water sealer. Let dry. Repeat if necessary.

    • 4

Find a level spot in your yard. Make sure that water does not pool in this area when it rains.

    • 5

Mark off a five-foot square section in the yard and cut out the grass. Remove about two inches of soil.

Use the rake to break up any clumps of dirt and level the area.

    • 7

Place plastic or landscape liner in the prepped square. Cover all exposed dirt.

    • 8

Carry the formed box to the prepped location in your yard. Use assistance when doing this step.

    • 9

Place the box directly on top of the plastic liner. Fill your sandbox with sand. After the sand is added the box will gain strength.

Tips & Warnings

  • Apply a foam padding to the top of the exposed wood with wood glue to allow cushion for children playing.

  • Get help to carry the sandbox to the yard location. Carrying the box by yourself can cause injury to you and damage to the box.
