How to Make Candles with Decorative Jars
Container candles can produce natural, soft lighting that is extremely versatile and can be used to add ambiance to a dinner party or serve as emergency lighting during a thunderstorm. You do not have to spend a lot of money buying premade container candles. Instead, make your own container candles using items -- such as decorative jars and beeswax -- that can be found around the house or purchased inexpensively from a candle-making supply company.

- Double boiler
- 2 tbsp. essential oil
- Spoon

1
Place 2 lb. of beeswax into the top of a double boiler. Fill the bottom of the double boiler with water, and heat the device over high heat until the beeswax melts.

2
Pour 2 tbsp. of essential oil into the beeswax, using any fragrance you prefer. Stir the mixture with a spoon to combine the substances together completely.

Place a drop of hot glue onto the bottom of a pre-tabbed wick, and press the bottom of the wick onto the inside bottom of a 32 oz. decorative glass jar. Position the wick so that it stands up straight by looping the top over a pencil laid across the opening of the jar.

Pour the scented beeswax into the prepared decorative jar. Fill the jar to the top of the rim. Allow the decorative container candle to cool for three hours before use.
