DIY Dinosaur Costumes
A homemade dinosaur costume becomes a roaring success with a little prep work and creativity. Most of the materials needed to make the costume are inexpensive, making this project more affordable than buying a costume. You may even have some of the items available already at home. Your child also gets the advantage of wearing a custom-made outfit that no one else will have. Tweak the design of the costume to match your child's favorite dinosaur and colors. Things You'll Need
- Sweat shirt
- Sweat pants
- Baseball hat
- Felt
- Gloves
- Contact paper
- Cereal boxes
- Hot glue
- Safety pins

Cut out teeth from white felt or craft foam. Attach the teeth along the bill of a baseball hat as the mouth. Hot glue giant wiggly eyes or felt circles for the eyes to the top of the baseball cap.

Cut out stripes, circles or other patterns for the dinosaur's skin from contact paper in a color that contrasts with the sweatshirt color. Remove the backing from the paper and stick the designs onto the clothing.

Cut out 10 claws from white felt or craft foam. Hot glue the claws to the fingertips of the gloves for your child to wear on his hands.

Cut a hole near the bottom front of two cereal boxes that is large enough to let your child's foot slide into it. Cut out two dinosaur feet from craft foam or felt, cutting a hole in the foot that lines up with the hole on the cereal box. Hot glue the foot on top of the cereal box.

Cut a dinosaur tail from a piece of stiff felt. Decorate it with spots or stripes like the rest of the dinosaur body. Attach the tail to the sweatshirt with safety pins.

Tips & Warnings
A green sweatshirt and sweatpants work well, but you can use any color. Use a sweatshirt and sweatpants that you already own to save money on the project.
