How to Upload Multiple Files to Hotfile

HotFile is a mass file uploading, hosting, and storage site. Many Internet users turn to sites like HotFile when files and/or email attachments are too large to transfer directly through email. While HotFile specializes in large file attachment uploads, multiple files have to be uploaded a bit differently. In most cases, the file will need to be converted and established as a .ZIP file before being transferred to HotFile for uploading. The .ZIP file format enables users to compress several files into one large attachment to eliminate multiple individual uploads. The .ZIP files method makes things a lot less complicated and much more organized for both the file owner and the recipient.

Instructions

  1. Compressing the Multiple Files

    • 1

Locate the individual files you'd like to compress into a .ZIP file for HotFile uploading.

    • 2

Hold the CTRL key on the keyboard and click each individual file you'd like to add to the .ZIP file. Once all of your individual files have been selected, a full list of files should be highlighted.

    • 3

Right-click one of the highlighted files and select the "Send To" option in the collapsible menu. Then, click the "Compressed (zipped) Folder" option. The operating system will generate a new .ZIP folder and transfer all of the files to that folder automatically.

    • 4

Right-click the new .ZIP folder and select the "Rename" option. Type a new file name for the .ZIP folder in the blank text field.

Uploading the Compressed Multiple Files to HotFile

    • 5

Access the HotFile official website in your Internet browser.

    • 6

Mouse over the "Log-In/Sign-Up" tab button at the top of the HotFile home page.

    • 7

Enter your HotFile username and password in the text fields in the drop-down menu box. Once you've logged into your HotFile account successfully, the site will redirect back to its home page. (See Tips section if you do not have a HotFile account.)

    • 8

Click "Browse" next to the blank file location field in the middle of the HotFile home page.

    • 9

Locate and select the newly compressed .ZIP folder and click "Open." The .ZIP folder includes the multiple files you desire to upload. The .ZIP file's location on the hard drive should be displayed in the file location field.

    • 10

Check the box below the file location field to agree with the HotFile Terms of Service. Click "Upload" at the bottom of the page to begin uploading the multiple files to the HotFile server.

Tips & Warnings

  • You do not have to be a premium HotFile account holder to use the site for uploading. If you do not have a premium HotFile account, you do not need to log in or sign up.

  • Do not refresh the page while the .ZIP file is uploading to HotFile. Refreshing the page will halt the entire uploading process.
