How to Recover an HP NC6000

Recovering Windows on your HP NC6000 laptop can be done using the recovery disc or through Windows.

The HP NC6000 laptop is a consumer laptop that runs Windows XP. Following a system failure, users generally try to recover their files or reinstall Windows to get their NC6000 laptop running properly. There are two options for system recovery: through Windows XP or using a Windows recovery CD. Either process will enable the system recovery process and allow the user to repair any errors that might have disabled Windows.

Recovery Through Windows XP

1. Close all programs that are running in Windows. Click "Start," "All Programs," "System Recovery" and "PC Recovery."

2. Select the option to perform a "PC Recovery" and click "Next."

3. Click "OK" once the HP NC6000 laptop has restarted in recovery mode.

4. Click "Next" once the System Recovery Panel is displayed. This will begin the system recovery process on your HP NC6000 laptop. Once the recovery process is over, click "Restart" to reboot your laptop.

Recovering With a Recovery Disc

1. Turn on the HP NC6000 laptop. Open the disc drive and insert your Windows recovery disc.

2. Restart the NC6000. As the computer restarts, hit "F8" button repeatedly to boot the computer into the boot menu. Select the option to boot from the recovery disc. Wait for the recovery program to load.

3. Press the "R" key to enter recovery mode once your hard drive has been scanned and allow the recovery program to reinstall Windows.

• Make sure you back up all important files on your HP NC6000 hard drive before you attempt the recovery process.
