Directions for Spybot
Spybot - Search & Destroy is a free antispyware program for Windows. Spybot scans your computer for known spyware, adware and other malware programs, and removes them automatically. Spybot also contains other features, including an immunization feature that helps protect your computer from spyware, a restore feature that reverts Spybot's actions if you encounter problems and an update feature that downloads information about new threats, and other updates to Spybot from the Internet.

Download and install Spybot from Safer-networking.org if it's not already installed.

Click "Start," click "All Programs," click "Spybot - Search & Destroy," right-click the "Spybot - Search & Destroy" shortcut in the Start menu and click "Run as Administrator."

Click "Yes" in the User Account Control window.

Check for any available updates by clicking the "Update" icon at the left side of the Spybot window and following the instructions on your screen to download updates.

Scan your computer for problems by clicking the "Search and Destroy" icon and clicking the "Check for Problems" button on the toolbar.

See more information about the problems Spybot found on your computer by clicking each in the list after Spybot finishes scanning. Problems with a red name are spyware and problems with a green name are usage tracks such as tracking cookies, which advertisers use to track your Web browsing habits.

Select the problems you want to fix by clicking the check boxes to the left of each problems and click the "Fix Selected Problems" button on the toolbar.

Click the "Immunize" icon in your toolbar if you want Spybot to protect your system from threats. Click the "Immunize" button on the toolbar to install all of Spybot's immunizations or select specific immunizations by clicking their checkboxes first.

Click the "Recovery" icon at the left side of your screen to view actions you can revert. If there's a problems, you can undo Spybot's actions by clicking them in the list and clicking the "Recover Selected Items" button on the toolbar.

Tips & Warnings
If you're using Windows XP or an earlier version of Windows, left-click the "Spybot - Search & Destroy"shortcut instead of using the "Run as Administrator" option.
You can access advanced Spybot options and features by clicking the "Mode" menu at the top of the Spybot window, clicking "Advanced Mode" and clicking "Yes" to confirm. Be careful when using Spybot's advanced mode; it contains a variety of tools that can damage your computer if used improperly.
