You can convert CBR files containing e-books into PDF on Linux.

Files whose names end with the ".cbr" extension contain electronic books (e-books). There are specialized book-reading software applications that can display the contents of such a file on the screen of a computer or a mobile device. However, a set of files in Adobe's portable document format (PDF) is more versatile: PDF files can be easily printed and viewed in most computers without having to install additional book-reading software. You can convert a CBR file into a set of PDF files on a computer running the Linux operating system.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to the Linux computer. Start a file manager. The specific way of performing this step depends on the Linux distribution. For example, for Ubuntu Linux, click "Places" at the top of the screen, then select "Home folder." A Nautilus window comes up; click it to select it.

    • 2

Right-click the CBR file and select "Rename." Leave the name unchanged, but change the extension from ".cbr" to ".rar" (for example, rename "book.cbr" as "book.rar").

    • 3

Double-click the RAR file; the RAR decompressor expands the RAR archive into a set of JPEG (image) files with the ".jpg" extension. Select all the JPEG files.

    • 4

Right-click any of the selected JPEG files, then choose "Print." Click "Print to file" in the Print settings window, then select "PDF." Click "Print."
