How to Sort by Multiple Columns in iTunes

Apple's iTunes music application gives you plenty of ways to sort your music, from basics like artist and album, to specialized like beats per minute. However, you don't have as much flexibility if you want to sort by multiple columns. iTunes offers just two options for sorting by multiple columns: viewing your library sorted by album and then sorted by artist, and viewing your library sorted by album and then the year of the track's release.

Instructions

    • 1

Open iTunes. Select the "Music" icon under "Library" if the music library is not already open in iTunes.

    • 2

Click the column header that says "Album." It will change to "Album by Artist," allowing you to view your music sorted by artist with the artist's music sorted into albums.

    • 3

Click the column header that says "Album by Artist." It will change to "Album by Artist/Year," allowing you to view your music sorted by artist with the artist music sorted into albums by the year of release.
