How to Make Beginner-Level Wreath Bows
Simple bows add a finishing touch to a decorative wreath. Beginner-level wreath bows are formed with simple loops from a ribbon or fiber that matches the wreath project. Weatherproof ribbon is available for outdoor wreaths that hang on the doors of homes and businesses. Plastic ribbon can be used on a wreath that stands as a memorial on a grave throughout the winter season. Fabric and fibers are used on interior wreaths that are used for wall hangings throughout the year. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1
Cut a 20-inch piece of green floral wire with wire cutters.
-
2
Hold the ribbon, lace or raffia in one hand. Pinch the material about 18 inches from the end.
-
-
3
Twist the material and form a 4- to 8-inch long loop above the 18-inch long tail. Twist the material and form a second loop of the same size on the opposite side. Continue to hold the pinched center area of the bow with one hand.
-
4
Twist and form two more opposing loops and secure them with your hand with the first two loops.
-
5
Pick up the wire with your free hand. Wrap it tightly around the front of the pinched area of the bow material.
-
6
Turn the bow upside down and bring both ends of the wire around the bow center to the back of the bow. Pull the ends of the wire as tight as you can.
-
7
Wrap the wire around to the front and back around to the back of the bow again. Twist the ends of the wire tightly around one another three or four times against the bow material. Two tails of wire will remain.
-
8
Cut the end of the ribbon on a slant with cloth shears to match the length of the first ribbon tail. Cut a slant on the first tail if it is not already slanted. You can cut an upside-down V notch in each tail for a different look.
-
9
Pull the two wire tails apart as wide as the pieces will extend. Put the bow against the front of the wreath with the wire tails on either side. Tightly wrap the wire around the front to the wreath back and twist the ends together to secure the bow to the wreath. Cut excess wire or tuck it into the back of the wreath.
-
10
Fluff the loops of the bow to cover the wired center.
