Blogging is a way for you to publish your ideas on the Internet.

WordPress allows bloggers to publish ideas, concepts and articles with a flexible, extensible application. Each blogger can customize the application to suit his tastes with assorted themes and plug-ins. While many hosting companies provide quick deploy versions of WordPress, the company itself touts an easy-to-follow process for installing or reinstalling its application.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the WordPress installation package. If your hosting company does not provide a WordPress quick-start package, the latest version of WordPress is available directly from Wordpress.org.

    • 2

Create the WordPress database and user. Your hosting company may provide a free instance of MySQL preinstalled. WordPress supports MySQL as the repository for the content, images and other media you generate.

    • 3

Rename "wp-config-sample.php." WordPress provides this file as an example configuration. Rename the sample file to "wp-config.php."

    • 4

Edit "wp-config.php." The renamed file is a template you can use to easily setup your WordPress blog. Add the name of your MySQL database, username and password for the database and the IP address or host name of the database server.

    • 5

Transfer the WordPress files to the hosting server. Using an FTP client, copy all files from the extracted WordPress package, including the new "wp-config.php" file to the Web server hosting your blog.

    • 6

Install WordPress. Launch a browser. In the address field enter the following URL: http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/install.php. The installation script prepares and installs WordPress on the server. Replace "yourdomain.com" with the domain name you registered with your hosting company.
