Instructions for a Raccoon Trap
If you live near a wooded area you are likely familiar with raccoons. These nocturnal creatures enter open spaces during the night looking for food. Like bears, they will follow the scent to the food source even if it is in an enclosed area. Raccoon traps are available at local home stores. Raccoons are fast, have sharp teeth and claws and can harm humans if they sense a threat. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Decide where you want to place the trap. If you know where their food supply is you can place the trap nearby.
-
2
Use meat to trap the raccoon. Bacon, fish and chicken are examples of useful bait. Use meat scraps left over from meals as an economical method.
-
-
3
Acquire either a single-door or double-door trap. If you use a double-door trap you may need to wire the second door closed to give the raccoon less opportunity to escape. Put the bait near the wired-shut door so the raccoon is forced to walk completely into the trap.
-
4
Set the trap later in the day with the bait inside, following the manufacturer's instructions. Check the trap every day. Replace the bait if it starts to spoil.
-
5
Contact local animal control once you trap a raccoon. Allow professionals to properly remove the trap and raccoon from your property.
